I have had an eviction recently from a weekly, 2 or so months ago is that going to have a detrimental impact on me being able to rent a decent apartment ? I would appreciate any and all helpful answers that anyone can give me.
Your answer:
Various landlord associations let the landlords run background checks very cheaply. If you pay an application fee, then it will be used to run the background check. Eviction is one thing a landlord really dislikes. An eviction is very expensive for him because of unpaid rent (he must still pay the mortgage while you live for free) and because of the legal cost to evict you. You may have to downgrade your living location to rent a room, because they are used to renting to less stable people. Then you need to build up your history as a good renter, and the room landlord will give you a good recommendation.
You are entitled to a free credit report from the credit agencies (Experian, Transunion, and Equifax) once per year. Go to their web sites and search until you find the free credit report form. They will hide it a little because they would much rather sell you the report, but the Fair Credit Reporting Act makes them give you a free report once per year, or if you have been denied credit, refused a job, or refused rental of a residence.
