If your potential mate-to-be has ever done anything outside of the law, or if you notice a pattern of moving around a lot, those should all be red flags.

Just by conducting my own background check on this loser I once knew, I was able to figure out that the asshole had not paid state and federal income taxes for over 10 years and was wanted by the IRS. In fact, I once I found out the IRS offers rewards, I sent them a complete file on him, including the background check, address, phone number etc. I also notified the Canadian authorities because he was trying to immigrate into Canada. Now the loser has had his immigration applications denied and rejected and is facing a court order to return to the States.

Who doesn't know that men online are trying to marry Americans to get their papers? You don't need to spend money you just need to stop meeting men online or even answering them. DUH

There are a ton of marriage scams out there. Especially beware of men from different cultures. For example, in several widespread Mid-East and India cultures, it is considered honorable and the proper thing to do for a man to lie to a woman, fool her, and control her in any way a man can. Never forget the tradition in India about burning brides to death when the extended family becomes dissatisfied with her, or her dowry. And never forget that some widespread Mid-East cultures believe in revenge killings when the woman dishonors the man, which men can interpret to happen anytime he wants a new wife. Beware about traveling to his home country, where you are completely under their control. They can take away your passport and keep you captive, and not allow you to visit the U.S. Embassy, if we even have one there. In many Arabic countries you would not be allowed to drive anyway.

Another good place to get background information is find out where they work, what property they own, what legal trouble they are in, etc, is backgroundsearch.com , which includes current phone number, address, address history for 30 years, age, birthdates, household members, relatives, associates, property ownership, lawsuits, marriage, divorce, criminal records check, sex offenders, terrorist watch, bankruptcy, tax liens, etc.

Your can look up a person's name and find out their city for free. You can repeat

@connie1 – you did very well! If he lied to you about that who knows what else he was hiding. I would have done the same thing if I were in your shoes. Had my share of liars and I’m sick and tired of them. I’m curious if you told him about this or if he found out you told the IRS about him.

@tscceleste24533, OMG! I can’t believe that those things can still happen in India! What in the world?!?! People that do these kinds of things aren’t really people, they are something else. I really hope we will soon be done with such thinking (fooling women, burning women, etc) but I’m not very optimistic about it happening in my lifetime.

These things happen in a lot of (more unknown) countries across the globe so India and the Middle-East are just two regions where it happens. Unfortunately, such practices have been going on since the first humans and it will be very hard to completely eliminate them. The first step is to give women the same rights as men everywhere on the globe.
