Cobb County Bicycle & Pedestrian Improvement Plan
Bicycling and walking are important modes of transportation for Cobb County's future. Academy and Carnes Street Improvements
This project will consist of stormwater upgrades, repaving, sidewalk revisions, and lighting upgrades. Improvements will be similar to those just completed on Dallas Street. Traffic will be restricted to residents only. Read more

Building Department Notification Of Flood Plain / Insurance Adjustment
The Federal Emergency Management Association will tentatively update the Acworth flood maps in December of this year. These updated maps will show the 100 year flood levels of Acworth’s creeks, lakes and ponds much more accurately and in much greater detail than ever before. Some homes and properties that have previously been shown to be out of the 100 year flood plain will now be identified as lying within in the flood plain and may be required flood insurance depending on the polices of the underwriting mortgage company. Special Needs Ballfield
Community leaders along with the City of Acworth Parks and Recreation Department are raising funds to construct a special needs baseball field at the Acworth Sports Complex. The field will be a handicapped accessible field. Read more
Veterans Memorial at Patriots Point
The service flags of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard surround the American Flag. The concrete dome structure is surrounded by a paver walkway. The engraved pavers are still for sale. Read more



Holiday Sanitation Schedule 2008/2009
THANKSGIVING: Thursday 11/27 and Friday 11/28 – CITY HALL CLOSED. Therefore schedule is as follows:

Monday (11/24); Tuesday (11/25); Wednesday (11/26) will be regular schedule pick up.
Thursday (11/27) will be picked up on Wednesday. Friday’s (11/28) brush will be picked up on Wednesday as time allows.

CHRISTMAS: Wednesday (12/24), Thursday (12/25) and Friday (12/26) CITY HALL CLOSED. Sanitation pick up schedule will be as follows:

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be picked up on regular day. Thursday’s garbage and brush (12/25); will be picked up on Wednesday (12/24).

NEW YEAR: Thursday (1/1/09) CITY HALL CLOSED
