Medical School Admission with a Criminal Record 2 Years, 10 Months ago
|
|
I am in the state of Florida, I am 21 and am about to apply for the school of perfusion. First and foremost, I recieved two possession charges (cannibus) before I entered college. It's almost been four years and the internship is two years. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the background checks in the state of Florida. Will I fail the background test if I pled "No Contest" - and recieved a withhold of adjudication? (Don't forget this happened twice) I plan to seal/expunge ONE of the two arrests (not convictions) to make it look better during application process.
I guess what I want to know is, am I going to be able to enter the internship and/ or get a job with a CVP degree with a misdemeanor cannibus charge on my record?
I don't want to waste my time and money working for a degree I won't be able to use due to my criminal history.. I was only 18 and had just graduated high school, made a couple of mistakes thats all D:
Good luck on getting your record expunged, but you probably will not succeed with that. Expungement is for first time offenders. In most states, a second offense, automatically disqualifies you. Also, 4 types of crimes disqualify you: drugs, sex, and violence, or a crime punishable by more than 1 year in jail.
You can see what is on your criminal record by starting your search at www.myflorida.com the official Florida website, you will find links to county offices that hold record for your Florida background check. This also includes a link to a business license directory that is very helpful in verifying a potential business partner or contractor. You can find the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is on the web at www.fdle.state.fl.us . This is where you can order criminal records to complete your Florida background check. Or, you can run a nationwide criminal record background search online in a few minutes.
Call the personnel department of your local hospital and ask them.
Call the program director of the college you hope to attend. That is very good advice, before you spend years and $10xThousands on something that could not be done.

The page for ordering BackgroundSearch.com has good, easy to understand directions and has specific steps to take you through the process. The advantage of being able to do this online is that the records come.
