Can I get a CCL?
I am wondering if I should take a cc class and try to apply for my ccl. 17 years ago (1993) I was arrested for aggravated assault with a firearm.
Does anyone think that I would pass the CC back ground check? Would it do any good to get an attorney to expunge my record if possible?

Expunging your record is probably not possible. Expungement is only allowed for 1st time offenders, when the offense does not involve violence, sex, drugs, or crimes against minors. Your gun charge probably disqualifies you from expungement. However, you should still check State law to see if it is possible in your state. A firearms violation will definitely disqualify you from a CCL permit. Worse than that, you may not be allowed to own or even touch a firearm at all.
