There are 232 licensed private investigators in Iowa, according to Linda Stevens, administrative assistant, Private Investigative Licensing, with the Program Services Bureau of the Iowa Department of Public Safety in Des Moines. The number has stayed about the same for several years. Nebraska has recently begun licensing private investigators. There is no PI licensing in South Dakota.
