It would appear evident from the result of the elections in Borehamwood, and Kenilworth ward specifically, that the Labour Party was more intent on conspiring against Frank Ward, ultimately compelling him to resign membership and to seek election as an independent, than the need to retain the seat by ensuring that the only person likely to win it was then permitted to stand.
